As requested, here's a quick post on how I described each of my experiences mentioned in my blog post about supporting information!
Pharmacy experience (Shadowing) :
I had the pleasure of shadowing Dr. XXXX and his staff at the XXXX University Center for Systems Imaging. Dr. XXXX is a board certified Nuclear Pharmacist who mainly focuses on PET radio-pharmaceutical drug synthesis, and the dispensing of radio-pharmaceuticals for human research. I was able to see the various tools and studies they were preparing as well as the opportunity to utilize the Nuclear Pharmaceutical arms. This experience was a great insight into the various fields of pharmacy.
Employment:
As an emergency room scribe I am the right hand to the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. I perform documentation in the EHR, gathering information for the patient's visit, and partner with the providers to provide efficient care. Throughout this experience I have surprisingly learned an abundance of information regarding chronic disease management, specifically the drugs for chronic disease management. I also have had the pleasure of interacting with various pharmacists in the emergency department, main pharmacy and other units of the hospital.
Extracurricular Activities (Teen Maze):
Hosted by the XXXX County Alcohol & Drug Council; I volunteered as one of the guides throughout the Maze. I guided a specific home room class through the various parts of the maze including risky behaviors, life and loss, and legal consequences of using drugs.
Extracurricular Activities (Research):
Investigated whether certain oils and substances in the environment could be broken down by certain microorganisms in order to protect the environment from substances that collect in restaurants and are later ran off into water sources.
Employment (University Tutor):
Assisted students with various subjects such as chemistry, anatomy, and often biology.
Healthcare Experience (Dental intern):
During my internship I was in charge of sterilizing the utensils used for procedures done in the office, applied topical for patients receiving procedures that required topical anesthetic, assisted in charting, set up and broke down exam rooms as well as walked patients from the waiting room to their designated exam room.
Employment (Chemistry Laboratory Teaching Assistant):
Assisted students in performing various labs, handled dangerous chemicals and advanced tools in order to maintain safety and follow protocol as well as performed various demonstrations of labs to be performed by students.
I simply provided short & concise descriptions!
